Tribal Tuesday – Genealogy Gangster

I would like to wish all of my readers a Happy Thanksgiving! What are you thankful for? Just because this is a genealogy blog does not mean we have to ignore holidays if we like. I like to think of the past and my family members who may have passed on and not able to be here. I am grateful for the industry of Genealogy and how it has blessed my life in so many amazing ways!

This time last year I started a foundation called the Genealogy Gangster Foundation. And it’s been very tough to start this company. Nobody seemed to believe in my dream of teaching inner-city kid’s the art of Genealogy. I am happy to announce our first program is going to be launched in January of 2018 as we have been funded for our initial project by the Denver Foundation.

RootsTech 2018

I am happy to be covering RootsTech this next year as part of the media corps. I am representing several news outlets from the city of Denver. I am so excited for this opportunity to be printed again. I consider myself a journalist because I write for this blog, but being published has been one of the honors of my life. I’m excited to be going and I hope to be able to bring my wife so she can see the craziest party for a genealogist around. We hope to be in town on Monday so we can see the sights before the convention begins. Are you going?

Tribal Tuesday – Sir. Winston Churchill

The Relative Finder Page for me and Sir Winston!

Well enough with news and updates about me personally, let’s get on to the Genealogy. I will only be doing the Tribal Tuesday prompt for three more weeks (taking the week of Christmas off). In January I will be starting a new blog prompt for this blog. So let’s dig in! Winston Churchill was a giant among men in my eyes. A man who was troubled and not without his faults but he did fight Hitler and Nazi Germany in WW2 which get’s respect in my eyes.

Born in 1874 he was a statesman, an army officer, writer, and more. He served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1940-1945 and then again from 1951-1955 which I did not know about the second term as Prime Minister. He was a Knight of the Garter amongst tons of other royal honors and designations by the United Kingdom. Something I did not know is that he also had some American roots in his family. His mother was an American Socialite which is something people probably did not know, and his father was an English aristocrat like himself.

Sir John Page

Our mutual ancestor is Sir. John Page who was born in Wembley, Middlesex, the United Kingdom in 1416. Sir Page died in 1494 in Devonport, Devon, England. I am trying to research who Sir Page was but haven’t been able to find much. I’m certain that this lineage was of his father’s side and where his aristocratic blue blood lay. I am excited to be related to English nobility I think it’s very excited.
